5.1.1-3 Quiz Corrections
Quizzes from yesterday were returned to students today. Because this was the first quiz of the year, students were allowed to do corrections to get half credit back on any questions they missed. If students did not complete their corrections in class, they need to be turned in on Tuesday. We have completed our review of the basic operations and will be starting decimals next week. On Tuesday, students will be getting their logins for their textbook and will be expected to attempt to login at home.

5.1.1-3 Review
Today we reviewed the first three sections of our unit. It includes addition, subtracting, multiplication, and division. Students will be taking a quiz tomorrow. Multiplication and Division Timed Tests
We went over yesterday's homework on addition and subtraction. We then took multiplication and division timed tests. We now have completed the 4 main operations.. We also have starting scores that students will try to improve on throughout the year.

Addition and Subtraction Timed Tests
Today we took our first timed tests: addition and subtraction. Students recorded and graphed their scores on our record sheet.

Expectations and Binders
Today we went over the expectations for a middle school math class. We then put our binders together. We labeled the dividers with the following categories: bell work, notes, homework, timed tests, quizzes, and tests. Then we worked on mental math by completing some 24 cards.

Introduction
Today we got to know each other. I told students about myself and began the process of learning their names. I introduced students to this website and showed them how to answer the problem of the day. Today's homework is for students to take home the Million Words "assignment." I would like parents to tell me about their child in a million words or less. Also, students need to bring their binder, tabs/dividers, and loose leaf paper to class tomorrow as we will be setting up our binders. Below is a link to the Million Words assignment:
