We continued with the order of operations. We worked on practice problems off of a worksheet. The homework is the following questions of of that worksheet which has a link below:
#'s 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 (on #16 I turned the first subtraction sign into an addition sign)
Due to schedule changes from the Iowa testing in the 5th and 7th grade we have been unable to have accelerated math at the end of the day. So, students worked on accelerated math in class today.
We continued our lesson on exponents that was cut short on Friday due to picture day. Also, the tests on decimals was passed back. Students are allowed to correct their test to receive half of the points back that they missed. Below is a link to today's PowerPoint lesson:
We started our new unit with a lesson on exponents but we were cut short due to pictures. We will continue our exponent lesson on Monday. There is no homework.
A number of students needed extra time on their test. While some students were finishing their test, others worked on 24 cards, practicing their basic math skills. There is no homework tonight.
We went over the 5.2 Review on decimals. We then worked on examples to prepare for tomorrow's test. Below are links to games to practice some of the skills on the test. Below that is the review along with the answer key.
Today students worked on the Unit 2 Review. It is due tomorrow. It is a very important assignment because it is very similar to the test students will take on Wednesday. Below is a link to the review:
Today we added and subtracted decimals. The 2 important rules to remember when adding and subtracting decimals are: 1) line up the decimal points and 2) fill in zeros so there are the same amount of place values after the decimal point filled in, Below is a link to today's PowerPoint lesson:
Today we compared and ordered decimals. Students put decimals in order from least to greatest and and compared them using <, >, and =. Below is a link to today's PowerPoint lesson:
We continued to learn about reading and rounding decimals. Today's homework is out of the online textbook. The link to the textbook is to the right of this blog post.
Students only have 1 problem for homework because the main assignment is to log in to their online textbook. Students should have brought home a letter with their username and password. If they forgot it please email me and I will send it to you.
To login to the textbook click on the link to the right. Enter your username and password. Click on Student Center which will bring up your textbook. Enter 24 in the page number box and hit enter. You should now be on page 24 of the textbook.
